AI-3016: Develop generative AI apps in Azure

Develop generative AI apps in Azure is a one-day, intermediate course for data scientists and AI engineers who want to build applications that put language models in front of real users. Using Microsoft Foundry, participants plan and prepare their development environment, then select, deploy and evaluate models from the model catalog using benchmarks and both manual and automated testing.

From there the course moves into building: developing a chat application with Foundry projects and the Responses API, and extending it with tools so that models can act on external systems rather than only chat. Participants also learn how to improve model behaviour through prompt engineering, grounding with retrieval-augmented generation and fine-tuning, and how to implement a generative AI solution responsibly to reduce the risk of harmful content.

Attendees should already be familiar with fundamental AI concepts and Azure AI services, and should have some programming experience. The course is aligned with an Applied Skills assessment, so it is a practical way to demonstrate hands-on ability to develop generative AI apps in Azure.
